A sporting event is defined by winners and losers. No one remembers who came in second. But in an interpersonal relationship, there never are any winners if a confrontational or competitive approach is taken by the partners concerned. When a couple decides to treat the relationship as a competition that needs to be won, then it can only result in producing losers all the way round. This means that a relationship breaks up or breaks down and it leaves one of the partners or even both of them thinking about how to Get ex back. So why not let go of a mind-set that says you have to win every argument?
If you think that the relationship is much more important than making a point or winning the debate, then you can get an opportunity to enjoy long-standing happiness. Instead of trying to win at an argument or make your point with force, try and communicate with your partner instead. It may help you jot down your points so that you do not stray from a specific agenda. Always remind yourself that losing your temper, shouting, exulting and even trying to put down your partner is not going to help. You can definitely make a point without being vociferous about it and trying to score points in an argument.
